DoorList raises $3M Seed Round
The social events platform plans to use the capital to grow their New York-based team and aggressively scale to 200+ campuses
DoorList, a social-first events platform used on college campuses across the country, announced it has raised $3 million in seed capital in an oversubscribed round backed by Felton Group LLC (the family office of Jaffray Woodriff), Neo, and Service Provider Capital. The round was joined by a number of tech icons including iPhone creator Scott Forstall, early Facebook employees Jared Morgenstern and Ari Steinberg, former CSO of The Trade Desk Brian Stempeck, and a group of former executives at multiple major tech companies.
Since launching at The University of Virginia last year, DoorList has been used at more than 50 campuses and facilitated more than 900,000 peer-to-peer invites. CEO David Roselle expressed his excitement about the milestone: “I am thrilled to have a group of investors who share our conviction that the next great social product will revolve around the things we do together. Each participant in our seed round provides unique insights and experiences to help us win this exciting space.”
"Where social calendars once revolved around Facebook, there's now a void to be filled in how people learn about events in their community," said Ali Partovi, Neo CEO. "DoorList starts with serving a simple need of managing event guest lists, and unlocks the door to much more: a hub for broader forms of online interaction among real-world friends." This approach has clearly resonated on campuses across the country, with Roselle sharing that many new schools are growing even more quickly than UVA, spanning both coasts and universities of all sizes.
DoorList plans to use the funding to build out their New York City based team and scale to colleges across the country. The four-person team has plans to grow to six full-time employees by June, with a specific focus on hiring technical talent. On the growth side, they plan to take their proven campus expansion strategy to 200 campuses in the next 18 months.
This fundraise follows a pre-seed round in May 2023, which was backed by Neo and JioSaavn cofounder Vinodh Bhat. DoorList was a participant in the 2023 Neo Accelerator.
